An attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday, October 10, left at least 12 people dead and more than 300 others wounded, Saudi authorities said, in one of the most serious incidents to hit the Saudi capital's main airport in recent years. Among those killed was a 28 year old Egyptian flight attendant, officials confirmed, while the wounded included a number of Umrah pilgrims who were passing through the terminal at the time.
The Indian Embassy in Riyadh confirmed that 11 Indian nationals were injured in the attack. In a statement, the embassy said it was tracking the condition of each of the affected Indians and remained in close contact with Saudi authorities and the hospitals treating them, and that it would issue further updates as more information became available.
The Government of India condemned the attack in strong terms, with a statement saying that repeated attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure are completely unacceptable and must cease immediately. The strike has been attributed to Yemen's Houthi militia, part of a wider pattern of cross border attacks the group has carried out against targets in Saudi Arabia.
