The Cockroach Janta Party ended its sit in at Jantar Mantar on Saturday after three rounds of talks with a government delegation, saying that its key demands had been accepted. The announcement came shortly after the Education Minister resigned.

The party's national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka set out three demands: the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, the withdrawal of all FIRs and cases against protesters and organisers with an assurance that no fresh cases would follow, and compensation of one crore rupees for the families of those who died in the aftermath of the disruption around the NEET examination. Ranka said the first was met by the resignation itself, and that the government had subsequently agreed to compensation for the affected families.

The second demand is the one with the longest tail. Withdrawing cases already filed is an administrative act that can be completed and verified. An assurance that no further cases will be filed is a commitment about conduct over time, and it is enforceable only by the same authorities that would file them.

Protest movements are usually judged by whether the concessions survive the crowd going home. On that measure the resignation is banked, the compensation is stated but not yet paid, and the position on cases is the part worth following once the tents at Jantar Mantar are gone.
