The Board of Control for Cricket in India has postponed its scheduled meeting with IPL stakeholders, which was due to be held in Mumbai on October 15, after several of those invited asked for the date to be pushed back. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the decision, saying the request came so that stakeholders could instead attend a felicitation ceremony for the Indian cricket teams in New Delhi the same day, an event several of them did not want to miss.
That ceremony, organised to honour both the men's and women's national teams for their gold medal performances at the 20th Asian Games, is set to be hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the capital. BCCI officials are expected to attend alongside the players, a commitment that would have clashed directly with the original Mumbai meeting had the date not been changed.
