India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Mumbai on October 20, with both sides describing the talks as reaffirming the strength of the UAE-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy also took part, alongside the UAE's ambassador to India, Abdulla Saif Al Nuaimi, and its consul-general in Mumbai, Abdullah Hussain Al Marzooqi.

The two sides covered economic cooperation, trade and investment, alongside education, culture and heritage exchanges, building on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement the two countries have in place. They also discussed regional and international security issues.

One specific item on the agenda was the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, which the UAE is due to co-host with Senegal in December, with the discussion centring on India's participation in that gathering.

Describing the broader relationship, officials said UAE-India ties are distinguished by close relations, strong friendship and mutual trust, a characterisation consistent with the UAE's standing as India's third largest trading partner globally, behind only the United States and China.
